Wesley Clark, former US general who served
as commandant in chief of the NATO allied forces, said in an interview with CNN
that the US created ISIL/ ISIS with the finance of its allies to make a proxy
war against Lebanese resistance movement Hizbollah, informs RT Actualidad.
In the interview, he remarked that if one
wants to defeat Hizbolla, they need fundamentalists who are ready to fight
until death, and this is how the U.S. created ISIS.
Mr. Clark’s remarks are not new to many
Middle East analysts or politicians. US Sunni allies hae frequently been
accused of financing, arming, and even training ISIS.
Last summer, a major Turkish opposition figure
announced he owns evidence showing that Turkey, a major US key ally in the
region, financed and trained ISIS fighters. The claim was even corroborated by
Mr. Recep Tayip Ordugan himself who never hid his unconditional support for the
ISIS-led Syrian insurgency against the Assad regime. He was once quoted saying
that Al-Assad is more dangerous than ISIS.
In 2012, Syrian state media broadcast testimonies
of ISIS fighters saying they entered Syria via Turkey and affirmed that the
Turkish police facilitated their entry.
Similarly, TV5 Monde, a French TV,
realised a documentary in which it portrays the journey of a French couple to
Syria, where they want to join ISIS. In the documentary, their journey was
easier than easy. No Turkish police seemed to intend to hamper their sacred
journey.
Saudi Arabia, another US key ally, which
has always been receiving its daily share of US praise, never hesitated to show
its secret love affair with ISIS. When the radical group took over key Iraqi cities,
the Saudi royal family praised the move. And it’s no surprise that the Saudies
and the US politicians should support ISIS in Syria and Iraq. Saudi Arabia and
the US have a common enemy called Iran, and the latter relies on the Iraqi and
Syrian regimes as key allies. So, using ISIS to fight these two Iranian allies
is like fighting Iran itself.
Last spring, Turkey used its artillery to
cover an ISIS retreat near its borders with Israel after the Syrian army pushed
them to Turkey. In the cover mission, the Turkish artillery downed a Syrian
jet. And so did Israel when it frequently attacked Syrian regime forces when
they were getting the thing out of ISIS.
Benjamin Netanyahu visited Syrian
opposition (translated ISIS) fighters who were being treated in Israeli
hospitals after they were wounded in fights near the Golan border.
Even Obama’s support to the Syrian
(translated ISIS) rebellion tells much.
