Stockholm has slammed Israel over the latter’s
reaction to the Swedish recognition of the Palestinian state, Press TV reports.
Speaking to Swedish newspaper, the Swedish
Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom said that the Israeli reaction to her country’s
recognition of the Palestinian State had been expected. But Israel has crossed
all boundaries with its comments on the issue, she added.
Her remarks came after Emanuel Nahshon, the
Israeli FM spokesman, said Mrs. Margot would have been rejected by her
government if she had travelled to Israel.
Tension has mounted between Israel and Sweden
after the latter’s recognition of the State of Palestine. Early in January, the
Israeli FM, Avigdor Liberman, refused to meet with his Swedish counterpart.
Many official meetings between Swedish and
Israeli officials have been cancelled.
